Windows Update Service Not Updating [Fixed]

Windows Update Service Not Updating [Fixed]

Today I had the privilege of updating a room full of Windows 7 desktops, about 28. A few of these Windows 7 desktops would not update. Basically the “Windows Update Service” is not responding to the update request. If this happens to you on a Windows 7 desktop, follow these quick and easy instructions for the fix.

Click on the Start Button, then type “cmd” in the search box and hit enter, right click on the program that displays and select to run as Administrator. At the command prompt type: net stop wuauserv and hit enter. Next type: net start wuauserv and hit enter. A restart does not need to happen, just give your Windows Update Service about 10 seconds to completely start.

After you complete this process make sure your Windows Update Service is on automatic.
